Description
The project will include the following seismic improvements:
Complete removal of the existing green roof and its associated soils.
Roof replacement in the former green roof area and installation of roof drainage and stormwater conveyance, and replacement of other selectively removed roof areas.
Installation of anchoring between the walls and the wood diaphragms at the two higher level roofs (the second-floor office space and high bay garage).
Installation of a subsurface concrete grade beam along the exterior of each end of the high-bay garage doors of the mechanic shop.
Installation of bracing to numerous unbraced interior concrete masonry unit walls throughout the building.
Project Timeline
Construction occurring between March and July 2025.
Project Budget
The project budget of $1,138,420 is funded out of the Capital Improvement Project fund.
Construction continues at the Public Works Facility site. The upper roof’s reinforcement is complete, and the roofing membrane installation is underway and is expected to be complete in the next two weeks. The green roof soil and irrigation system has been removed, leaving behind the insulation and weather barrier that will remain in place until the new roofing material is approved, delivered, and ready for install. Grade beams at the shop high bay doors have been poured and are curing. Backfilling and asphalt work is scheduled for next week.

Construction continues across the Public Works Facility site. The office roof is waiting for material delivery to install the new roof membrane. The contractor has built a temporary rain shelter above the shop roof and has begun roof demolition. The asphalt outside the shop sectional doors has been sawcut, with the east entry being removed, excavated, and backfill placed and compacted in preparation for the new concrete grade beam to be installed. Removal of the green roof organic material has begun and that work will continue over the next two weeks. This project is expected to be completed in July 2025.
