Restoration Event | Engstrom Open Space

Saturday, August 29, 2026 - 10:00am to 12:00pm

A group of volunteers posing in the woods.

Join us for a Forest Steward led work party in Engstrom Open Space (next to Pioneer Park). For this work party volunteers will be removing ivy that is blanketing the forest floor. Removing ivy helps to increase the biodiversity of park by making room for native plants to sprout up. If left unchecked, ivy will grow over our native plants and eventually pull them to the ground. Your help with removing ivy will play a pivotal role in creating a healthier future for the park!

Volunteers should expect to walk about 5 minutes on a strenuous trail to access the worksite (a flat work area), this event might not be suitable for volunteers under the age of 12.

  • When: Saturday, August 29th, 10am-12pm
  • Where: Engstrom Open Space, a map will be provided for directions to the specific work site.
  • What to bring: Dress for the weather in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (think: long pants, boots or sneakers). Bring water. Small snacks, gloves, and tools will be provided.
