Student Exchange

The Mercer Island Sister City Association student exchange program is stronger than ever!

Last February, Mercer Island students went to Thonon les Bains for the first half of the 2023 student exchange. They stayed in the homes of Thonon families, having been matched with Thonon students. They went to classes with their French counterparts, toured the Chateau de Ripaille, had a lesson in French pastry-making, hiked at Plateau des Moises in the mountains, visited the Chateau de Chillon in Switzerland - among many activities.

In late October, early November, Mercer Island welcomed the French students and chaperones. The Mercer Island community was invited to two public events:

  • 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Mercer island Community and Events Center: a Welcome Reception for the French visitors and
  • 6:15 - 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30 at the VFW Hall: a Community Halloween Potluck Dinner. To RSVP go to Halloween Potluck Dinner: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080D4FAEAB23AB9-44859312-misca

Here's a list of activities during their visit:
