French Films

Recent films:

The Mercer Island Sister City Association offered a free showing of the classic film  "Le Chateau de Ma Mere," directed by Yves Robert, 1990.  (In French with English subtitles.)  

Thanks to Aljoya on Mercer Island for hosting the film.  

In this charming sequel to "La Gloire de Mon Pere," the first of Marcel Pagnol's Souvenirs d'Enfance (autobiographical novels of his childhood in Marseilles and Provence in the early 1900s), "Le Chateau de Ma Mere" follows the reminiscences of Marcel, now a teenager, as his family makes regular trips to their beloved house in the country.  The film is in French, with English subtitles.

Film expert Lance Rhoades introduced the film and led a discussion following the screening of the film.  

The films are  free, but donations are welcome!
